WHAT IS AVCI WT-ESCRIMA?

What are the characteristics of an ideal Martial Art?

The effect of self- defence! Protectiing your own self in the minimum time using minimum possible effort.

Reflexes, sometimes - as in while driving, when a child jumps the street - help us doing the right even we never learn or practise them.

Holding this in our minds, we easily understand that an effective martial art must be composed of techniques based upon reflexes. Especially reflexes of contact.

By trainings, a few reaction become reflexes that come out in need. Lots of techniques, need time to decide which one to use and the time spent is very critical and most probably we don' t have.

An effective self defense should be away from any kind of artistic worries, as well. Any attacker is kind or friendly enough to wait us have stretching and warm up exercises or change our unsuitable clothes for fighting.

What is Avci Wing Tsun ( WT)?

WT is a weaponless and effective self defense. A systematic reflex and feeling training Chi Sau is taught in Avci WT. This helps the fastest and the most effective techniques to come out in as automatic reactions in contact of a fight of two persons. By WT, an attacker is responded in any condition. Wt is so effective that; instructors of Special Police Commandos of NRW State and Federation of Germany tains with Si-Fu AVCI a few times a week.

Chi Sao......

Punch, kick, elbow, knee, grappling and throwing, fighting on the ground, soft applications and Chi Sau that combines all of these to each other is the essence of Wing Tsun. ...... means "sticking hands". A form in which reactions coming out in contact is practiced. The advantage of these feelings controlled by reflexes is a high speed and safe application of techniques. "Feeling Trainings" in which the most suitable contra- attack reflex to come out in an attack is taught is one of the perfect characteristics of Avci Wing Tsun.

What is Avci Escrima?

Escrima,is a Philippine weapon art in which short stick ( 60 cm. ) and similar weapons are used. This defense concept can be transferred into various everyday things like umbrella, stick, briefcase, credit cards. Coming together with Avci WT, this art can be used in all distances of any weapon or weaponless self - defense. The applicability of these techniques has been approved by the special police commandos trained by Sifu AVCI. Functional and real use of tools. No show offs.

Is Physical power essential for self defence?

Being strong is not harmful. But lack of power can be covered by learning essential techniques and being speed and action. Further than this functional power is obtained by technique trainings.

Is WT suitable for women?

Of course; WT, is suitable also for women. It is more essential than any time that women can defend themselves. A women's knowledge of what to do in any attack, not only helps physical development and self- trust but also makes it impossible to do unwanted things. Principals of Avci WT and a regular training provides any attack to be only an attack nothing more. AVCI WT and ESCRIMA is suitable for both men and women.

Does Avci WT contain soft control techniques?

Yes. This is also the reason why elite police forces learn from Salih AVCI. As abilities gained in reflex trainings are controlled by feelings in WT, defense is done by the power of the opponents attack. So, defense in WT appears automatically according to the attack. It doesn't matter what type of attack it is, by the automatic reflexes, the attacker is taken under control without using force or giving any harm. This is a part of highest degree students' exams as controlling a person who attacks without any control.

Concept

We experienced that a hard training concept is essential for a successful and effective self- defense. For this, capabilities of a student should be exposed and the student should be asked to use. WT is based on the experiences of WT practitioners who survived after many dangerous fights. Reflex and feeling trainings are the basis. Only techniques of this aim are taught. There are rules to prevent injuries and provide fairplay in a match. This is very good and important. But in real situations the attacker doesn't mind Fairplay. To protect yourself, there is only one rule. There is no rule! That is the concept of WT.

Conclusion

“Nobody born as a master.” This is valid in every phase of life. Only continuous training will take you to the target. It is better learning few techniques that can be applied well, instead of learning lots of techniques cannot be applied. As we don't promise palaces on clouds sometimes people don't understand us but we will continue to promise the same thing. winning the hearts os students. Winning fighters not show-offs.

SI-FU SALIH AVCI

Sifu Salih AVCI was born on 02.12.1963 in Karasu / Akkum / Turkey. He went to Germany in 1971. After having taken a language course on German language he continued his regular education. He worked in iron industry for a while. Meanwhile, he started High School of Profession. After 4 years of electro spooling, he took a training course on vehicles working on hydraulic and air pressure principles. After his training, he worked for Philips and other big industrial companies as responsible for winch and bands.

In July 1980, he started learning Wing Tsun. Every passing day his interest in this martial art increased, to which he started to exercise and to enhance belf-motivation. He started to train his first students in 1984 in Aachen’da. In 1985, he moved to a new school where he is using as an Academy nowadays. In 1986 he acquired 1st Master Degree. In 1988he beace one of the 5 higher degree trainers in European Wing Tsun Organisation and later became one of the top 3 names.

Along with Wing Tsun he also started learning Escrima, which also is a martial arts system based on using weapons. He became one of the top 3 names in Escrima which he started to learn in 1982.

Before establishing his own organization on behalf of the EWTO and IWTMAA he trained students as the Chief Instructor of Turkey between 1991-1997. Moreover, he was one of the members of the committee doing the exams of EWTO and IWTMAA trainers.

Since 1992 he has had considerable contribution in training of nearly 10 people who now are Chief Instructors of several countries by training them personally in his school and as being a member of the committee doing their exams.

In 1997 he established his own organization. Under the name of WTEO (Wing Tsun- Escrima Organization) he started instructing Avcı Wing Tsun and Avcı Escrima.

In 1992, he was selected and invited along with seven other self-defense experts to the International Special Squads Seminar in Göpingen, he was the master of ceremonies and he was elected as the chief instructor of this group.

After this seminar, he was invited to train by authorities in NRW (North Ren Vestfalya State) to train SEK special squad. Later, he started instructing MEK, GSG9, ZUZ squads and correctional officers for the Justice Ministry. He still is training the mentioned special squads.

He also gave seminars to BEROSİ special squads that are fighting the terrorist organization ETA.

Besides special squads from Ireland, Egypt, U.S.A., Russia, Sweden etc. took special lessons from him in his school.

After SEK squads’ practicing and applying successfully in real life the arrest methods using minimum effort in minimum time other squads shifted their arrest methods to those of Avcı Wing Tsun.
Sifu Salih AVCI developed, with his 20 years experience of WT and 18 years experience of Escrima, arrest methods without using fire-arms.

Sifu Salih AVCI had visited correctional institutions and prisons in Germany with a group from the Justice Ministry and made vital recommendations concerning dangerous points and cautions to be taken, and instead of Ju-Jitsu and some other Far-Eastern sports techniques Avcı Wing Tsun  techniques came into force as a rule.

Since the practices of self-defence sports are based on some rules they are not realistic and effective. However, in Avcı WT the purpose is both arresting the criminal without harming him and enabling the security officer to turn back home safely. That is why Avcı WT is devoid of rules and based on real life principles.

Special Squads trained by Sifu Salih AVCI presented a demonstration to Squads in Russia with the consent of the AGK

Currently in over 70 schools in Germany and in several other countries (Holland, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Jordan and Turkey) Avcı Wing Tsun is taught. Sifu AVCI is the leader of the second biggest Wing Tsun Organizations in the world with the number of students more than 8000. This number does not include the 30.000 riot squad members and special squad members to whom Sifu AVCI gives constant training.

In Turkey in big cities AVCI WT schools are actively conducting activities in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Bursa, Samsun, İzmit. Annually, in Anamur in April, May, June and October, international seminars are held with active participation of students and trainers from Europe. These seminars are particularly important in order to share experiences and tell foreigners the beauties of Turkey. Moreover Sifu AVCI gives seminars also in several other cities in Turkey. Sifu AVCI gave WT and Escrima seminars in October 2000, January 2001, May 2001, January 2002 and lastly on 11th-12th of May 2002 in schools of his student who is training lots of students Avcı WT and Avcı Escrima in Ankara and who is also an officer in Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
