The Istanbul Conference on Democracy and Global Security is an initiative of the Turkish National Police and international scholars concerned with issues relating to democracy and global security.

The training program Sifu AVCI has developed as a result of his cooperation with German GSG9, SEK, MEK, ZUZ and BKA, and Ministry of Justice of Germany and most recently police units of North Rein West Falia Province appears in human rights issues, results in minimum injuries for either criminals or officers.

Studies shows that techniques based on Avci Wing Tsun and Escrima are very effective as they can easily be applied without any show offs and wthout exess violance.

For the above mentioned reasons, Sifu Avcý has been invited to the Conferance by the Organisation Committee, and the changes in German Special Police Teams resulted by Avci Wing Tsun and Escrima and more democratic police applications will be informed to the participants by a panel session and posters.

Avci Wing Tsun training in Jordan

Sifu Salih AVCI, during his summer holiday with his parents in Anamur, has traveled with his brother Salim to Amman- the capital of Jordan- to instruct a seminar in the martial arts school of his student Sihing Ahmet Hajjiri. This was the first seminar under the instruction of Sifu Salih AVCI in Jordan. Already at the airport Sifu AVCI and his brother were welcomed cordially and respectfully. In the Wing Tsun school, the students were waiting for Sifu AVCI- the leader of the WTEO - about whom they have listened quite much from their Sihing.

During the seminar, one could easily feel the tension of the students who were trying to do not only the good but the best. Everybody had their diffuculties according to their levels but the most difficult time has started when Sifu Salim AVCI has worn his protections and mouth guard for the Lat sau part of the seminar. At the end of the seminar, students applaud Sifu AVCI to present their thanks and a new period started for the questions of the students.

On the second day of the visit to Jordan, an impressive demonstration was presented by Sifu Salih AVCI and his brother Salim in the Sport Palace of Amman. The demonstration was watched by not only public but also the high-ranking representatives of Jordanian Security Forces. The spectators were fascinated by the demonstration. Sifu AVCI, whose explanations have been translated to the spectators, demonstrated some practical techniques against armed attacks. Describing the basics of Avci Escrima, he also showed tranferability of these techniques into everyday life articles such as bottles, handbags or credit cards. He also explained the differences between a sport and a martial art and/or self-defence. In a dangerous situation, there are no more rules as in matches and Avci Wing Tsun is for these kind of situations. Afterwards Sifu Salih AVCI demonstrated, how one can defend himself/herself by means of Avci Wing Tsun techniques effectively against violent attacks and control the opponent. Sifu Salih AVCI explained to the public that Avci Wing Tsun/Escrima is not only important for the police and the military, on the contrary improves the individual’s self-defense system while contrbuting to his/her body and self-confident.

For the officials of the security forces the techniques were naturally more interesting, as they permit to control aggressors without hurting them. Lieutenant Colonel Emad Abida, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Police Sport Federation, said after the demonstration: "an extremely impressive demonstration was performed by a very experienced master". He also added that instructers of the police would be trained in Avci system. The simple and fundamental concepts of the Avci Wing Tsun, which can be applied to many dangerous situations, are particularly convincing. Lieutenant Colonel Emad Abida also proposed Sifu Salih Avci to train the instructers of the police in the center of the Department for Public Security.

Visiting the historical monuments of Amman, a tour to Dead Sea and seeing the deepest point of the world naturally made this trip to Jordan unforgettable for Sifu AVCI and his brother. The students are seeking the next seminar with Sifu AVCI in Jordan.
